Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
PaperTogether ("we", "us") is a platform for academic discussion of research papers. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in (email, Google, GitHub) we store your name, email, and avatar. You may use a pseudonym publicly.
- Profile details you choose to add: affiliation, interests, bio, and a connected ORCID iD.
- Content you create: discussions, comments, quick takes, reactions, follows, and reports.
- Paper metadata only. We store bibliographic metadata (title, authors, year, venue, DOI, arXiv ID, links). We never store PDFs or full paper text.
How we use it
- To operate the platform: show your contributions, notify you about relevant activity, and compute reputation.
- To verify authorship when you connect ORCID (we read only your public ORCID record; we never write to it).
- To keep the community safe (handling reports).
Sharing
We don't sell your data. Public content (your posts, profile, username) is visible to others by design. We use third parties only to run the service (hosting, authentication, database).
Your choices
You can edit your profile, disconnect ORCID, and request deletion of your account by contacting us.
