Community Guidelines
PaperTogether is a place for rigorous, respectful discussion of academic work. A few principles keep it useful and safe for everyone.
1Discuss papers, not people
Engage with the work — its methods, claims, evidence, and results. Personal attacks, insults, and speculation about motives have no place here.
2Do not upload or paste copyrighted papers
PaperTogether stores metadata and discussion only. Never upload PDFs or paste full paper text. Link to the official source (publisher, arXiv, DOI) instead.
3Use short quotations only when necessary
A brief quote to anchor a point is fine. Reproducing large passages, full sections, figures, or tables is not.
4Prefer section / equation / table / figure references
Point to “Section 3.2”, “Eq. 4”, “Table 2”, or “Figure 3” rather than reproducing content. It keeps discussion precise and respects copyright.
5Serious accusations require strong public evidence
Claims of fraud, plagiarism, or misconduct are weighty. Raise them only with strong, public, verifiable evidence, and phrase them carefully and specifically. When in doubt, frame it as a question or a concern, not a verdict.
6No harassment or personal attacks
Harassment, hate speech, and targeted hostility lead to removal. Assume good faith and keep criticism constructive.
