Which robustness checks matter most for a DiD like this?

For me the priorities are: (1) a credible control group with parallel pre-trends, (2) sensitivity to measurement (the employment data were famously debated here), and (3) ruling out concurrent shocks hitting only one state. The famous follow-up reanalysis with payroll data is a good lesson in how much the data source can move a DiD result.
